The Barn at Pêtre

Petre plans

Entering the Barn you find yourself in a large, open-plan room with sitting and dining areas overlooked by the balcony of the mezzanine floor. There are comfortable chairs and sofas (one of which is a sofa bed for that unexpected guest) and a large fireplace with a wood-burning stove should a late-season evening turn a little chilly. The dining table seats eight with ease and for al fresco eating there is a large table with benches on the covered terrace.

The kitchen is well supplied with all mod-cons—dishwasher, full-size electric cooker, gas hob, microwave oven, fridge and freezer (so plenty of ice!). There is plenty of china, glass and cutlery and enough cooking utensils to satisfy even the most serious cooks. Adjoining the kitchen is a small utility room with a washing machine, iron, ironing board, etc.

Off the utility room is a shower room with WC. The showers are 1m square with glass panels and have mains pressure.

A gracious wooden staircase provides access to bedroom 1 on the mezzanine floor. This has two single beds (that can be converted into a large double if preferred), a wardrobe and two chests of drawers. Off the bedroom is a bathroom with full-size bath and hand shower and a WC.

Bedroom 2 is attached to the Barn but is accessed from a stone staircase outside. This has a queen sized bed. An en-suite shower and WC complete the room that we call the Pressoir after its former function as the room where the farm’s grapes were pressed. The Pressoir has its own small terrace with table and two chairs—perfect for a quiet breakfast or evening drinks.

Outside the Barn there are two terraces—a covered one off the main room which also has a barbeque—and a smaller, uncovered one outside the kitchen with table and chairs. There are deck chairs available which can be taken anywhere in the garden—under the shade of the trees or in the open sun to soak up some rays. There is also a hammock for serious relaxing.

For entertainment there is satellite TV with most UK and international channels, radio, CD and DVD players (borrow films from us), boules and board games and a wide range of books. The swimming pool, non-chlorine treated with approved alarm system, is available from 10am-7pm. It is solar heated, which makes for comfortable water temperatures even early and late in the year.
