Location

The Barn at Pêtre is located about 2 kms away from the thriving village of Castera Verduzan. It is set up on a hill above the village; it takes about 20 minutes downhill walk to the village, along the footpath by the river, but slightly longer walking back uphill! There are no immediate neighbours and life is very tranquil here - occasionally disturbed by the farmer harvesting the grain or sunflowers, or a pair of buzzards fighting over some small prey they have caught.

In the village is everything one could need - a baker, 2 butchers, a small supermarket, hairdresser, post office, garage, hotel and restaurants, newsagent, bank, casino and a small market on Sundays. There is a village bar near the shops, but also, during the summer, a village bar is run at weekends behind the market place - a great meeting place for locals and visitors.

Coming by car from the channel ports we are between 7 hours from St Malo and 13 hours from Calais - dual carriage way most of the way.

By plane, we are 90 minutes from Toulouse, 2 hours from Bordeaux, 2½ hours from Bergerac, Pau and Tarbes.
